Circuitul ICL 7707 este conceput pentru a masura direct, fara reteaua divizoare de la intrare, tensiunea de ±200mV sau ±2,000V, aceasta prin simpla modificare a rezistentelor R6, R9 si a condensatorului C4. S-a ales varianta cu ±200mV deoarece, prin utilizarea unei retele de divizare, putem mari domeniul de masura la ±2V, ±20V, ±200V sau chiar ±2000V.
Protejarea intrarii impotriva tensiunilor accidentale mai mari care pot aparea la intrare se face prin conectarea a doua diode in antiparalel, de tipul BA244,1N4148, etc.
Sursele de alimentare de +5V si -5Vvor fi bine filtrate si eventual stabilizate. Cu alimentarea conectata si intrarile scurtcircuitate afisajul va indica 0. Semnul negativ va fi afisat 50% din timp.
Din semireglabilul R8 se corecteaza valoarea afisata in cazul obtinerii unei alte indicatii decit 0 pe elementele de afisaj. Tensiunile mai mari decat valoarea maxima masurata pentru scala respectiva vor cauza stingerea ultimilor trei digiti. Numai 1 sau -1 va aparea afisat. Absenta polaritatii semnalului indica un numar pozitiv iar pentru unul negativ va aparea semnul de minus.
