Aparatul destinat detectarii surselor radioactive se compune dintr-un contor Geiger-Muller si detectorul propriu-zis. Alimentarea aparatului se face la 4,5 volti dintr-o baterie de lanterna si consuma un curent de cca. 250 mA.
Aparatul dispune de un reglaj al nivelului de “O ” si da o deviatie totala a acului instrumentului indicator la o iradiere a contorului de cca. 0,5 uCi.
Aparatul poate detecta si particole, deoarece contorul are o fereastra de mica si poate fi utilizat la numeroase experiente privind proprietatile substantelor radioactive sau absorbtia radiatiilor de catre diverse substante.
Originalitatea aparatului consta in greutatea si gabaritul reduse, precum si sursa de alimentare comoda fata de alte aparate similare cu o sensibilitate atit de ridicata.
