Aparatul functioneaza in felul urmator: — tranzistoarele ti si T2 formeaza un multivibrator cu o perioada de citeva secunde, care comanda generatorul de ton, realizat de T3. Tranzistoarele T4 si TvS formeaza un amplificator final in contra timp de audiofrecventa- La conectarea sursei de alimentare, generatorul de ton comandat de multivibrator produce pachete de oscilatii, care amplificate si reproduse de difuzor se aseamana foarte mult cu un mieunat.
Tranzistoarele T1 – T5 sint tipul EFT 322.
Transformatorul (T4 1) este transformatorul miniatura defazor al aparatului de radio “Zefir”, iar transformatorul de iesire (tr2) este cel folosit la aparatele de radio “Mamaia”. Difuzorul are impedanta de 80 ohmi.
Montajul este realizat pe o placa de circuit imprimat cu dimensiunile 144×55 mm si este introdus intr-o cutie, din care se scoate capatul potentiometrului (in locul rezistentei R6, se foloseste un potentiometru de valoare apropiata rezistentei, cu scopul de a putea regla oscilatiile generatorului).
Axul potentiometrului este reglat pentru un sunet cit mai apropiat de ceea ce vrea sa imite.
Cutia invelita cu o pinza este introdusa in corpul pisicii, prevazuta cu un fermoar.
