Circuitele basculante debiteaza succesiv prin intermediul R-D curentul de polarizare al bazei tranzistorului ti si GT.
Valoarea condensatorului C hotaraste timpul de persistenta in starea nestabila (stare in care la iesirile repetoarelor R apar tensiuni) adica durata notei muzicale generate. inaltimea notei muzicale generate fiind invers proportionale cu lungimea “parcursului ohmic ” de la dioda activa D pina la baza tranzistorului T1.
Circuitele basculante monostabile cauzeaza succesiv pe duratele starilor nestabile, tensiuni la iesirile repetoarelor “R”, activind succesiv diodele D. Circuitele de derivare au rolul de a transmite impulsul pozitiv ce se produce la trecerea circuitului basculant monostabil din starea nestabila in starea stabila. Acest impuls, trecind prin D, serveste la bascularea in starea nestabila a circuitului basculant urmator.
